What an eSIM is
An eSIM is a mobile subscriber profile stored in the phone itself rather than on a removable card. Installing one means scanning a QR code in your phone settings — there is no card to collect, post or swap.
A phone that supports eSIM can hold your usual number and a travel data profile at the same time, so your number keeps working for calls and messages while data runs over the rented profile. This is a rental for one trip, not a SIM you buy and keep.
How the rental works
- ChoosePick the destination and the length of the trip. Plans are compared by price per gigabyte.
- ReserveCheckout is handled by Stripe, with the all-in price shown before payment.
- ReceiveThe QR code arrives by email, typically within about a minute. Install it before you travel.
- UseData runs for the period rented. When the trip ends the profile expires; there is no contract to cancel.
What it does not do
It is not a phone number. The rental carries data only, and your existing SIM and number are untouched. If you need a number abroad as well, that is what TwinPhone does.
Your handset has to support eSIM and must not be carrier-locked. That is the one requirement worth checking before renting: most recent iPhone and Android flagship models support eSIM, and older or budget handsets often do not.

What exactly am I renting?

Is this a phone number?
No. Data only. Your existing number stays on your normal SIM.
When should I install it?
Before you travel, while you still have a connection. It activates for the destination rather than at the moment you scan it.
Do I need an app?
No, and there are none yet for iOS or Android.
Will my phone work with it?
Only if it supports eSIM and is not carrier-locked. Most recent iPhone and Android flagship models do; older and some budget handsets do not.
