The only official way to confirm, at no cost, that a body is currently incorporated in Queensland or authorised to fundraise there — the state-level status that ASIC and ABN Lookup cannot show. It yields the IA/CH registration number needed to order an official extract, request an association's lodged documents, or obtain a certified certificate of incorporation, and it is the entry point for due diligence on the very large population of Queensland community, sporting and not-for-profit bodies that hold no ACN.
The statutory basis is s 16 of the Associations Incorporation Act 1981 (Qld): "The chief executive must keep a register of incorporated associations", which must include the association's name, nominated address, the day its particulars are entered, and copies of documents lodged under s 59BA(1).
Incorporated associations are a Queensland legal structure with no federal counterpart on ASIC's registers.
Limitations
It does not establish company registration — incorporated associations are not companies, have no ACN, and are not on any ASIC register.
Free results are limited to three fields — name, registration number and postcode. No address, officeholders, committee, rules or financial data is available without a paid extract.
