Limitations
CIPO states that patent applications filed less than 18 months ago are only available if the applicant specifically asks for them, so recent filings can be invisible.
CIPO warns that "due to the complexity of claims, vocabulary and different languages, it is practically impossible to find every relevant publication".
CIPO published a notice of irregularities in status information for certain applications and patents following its Next Generation Patents migration.
It records patents, not businesses, so it does not establish that an applicant is a registered entity.
